چکیده

Tropical cyclones and storms, hurricanes, powerful thunderclouds, which generate tornadoes, destructive ex-tratropical cyclones, which result in catastrophic floods, are the powerful cloud systems that contain huge amount of water. According to the hypothesis argued in this paper, an electric field coupled with powerful clouds and electric forces play a cardinal role in supporting this huge mass of water at a high altitude in the troposphere and in the instability of powerful clouds sometimes during rather a long time duration. Based on this hypothesis, a highly effective method of volume electric charge neutralization of powerful clouds is proposed. It results in the decrease in an electric field, a sudden increase in precipitation, and subsequent degradation of powerful clouds. This method, based on the natural phenomenon, ensures the prevention of the intensification of tropical and extratropical cyclones and their transition to the storm and hurricane (typhoon) stages, which makes it possible to avoid catastrophic floods. It also ensures the suppression of severe thunderclouds, which, in turn, eliminates the development of dangerous thunderstorms and the possibility of the emergence and intensification of tornadoes.

The importance of extratropical and tropical cyclones on the short-term evolution of barrier islands along the northern Gulf of Mexico, USA

Data are presented indicating the complexity and highly variable response of beaches to cold front passages along the northern Gulf of Mexico, in addition to the impacts of tropical cyclones and winter storms. Within the past decade, an increase in the frequency of tropical storms and hurricanes impacting the northern Gulf has dramatically altered the long-term equilibrium of a large portion of...

State of the Art Volume Estimation of Extreme Wind Speeds

Extreme wind loads used in design (e.g., the 50-yr wind load) and include nominal design wind loads ultimate wind loads. This paper briefly reviews the relationship between extreme wind loads and extreme wind speeds, assessments of epochal versus ‘peak-overthreshold’ approaches for estimating extreme non-tornadic winds in areas not subjected to tropical storms, and methods for estimating extrem...

NOTES AND CORRESPONDENCE Fatalities Associated with Nonconvective High-Wind Events in the United States

A database was compiled for the period 1980–2005 to assess the threat to life in the conterminous United States from nonconvective high-wind events. This study reveals the number of fatalities from these wind storms, their cause, and their unique spatial distributions. While tornadoes continue to cause the most wind-related fatalities per year, nonconvective high winds (defined as phenomena suc...

Environmental Modeling, Technology, and Communication for Land Falling Tropical Cyclone/Hurricane Prediction

Katrina (a tropical cyclone/hurricane) began to strengthen reaching a Category 5 storm on 28th August, 2005 and its winds reached peak intensity of 175 mph and pressure levels as low as 902 mb. Katrina eventually weakened to a category 3 storm and made a landfall in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, Gulf of Mexico, south of Buras on 29th August 2005. We investigate the time series intensity change...

Numerical Simulation of Tornadoes Generated by a Typhoon near a Coastal Line

Tropical cyclones (hereafter, TC) as typhoons or hurricanes frequently spawn tornadoes. McCaul (1991) reported that approximately 59% of hurricanes that hit the United States during the period of 1948-86 produced at least one tornado. Most of the reported tornades are produced within two areas of TCs: near the core of the storm and in the outer rainbands (Gentry 1983). McCaul (1991) noted that ...
